UK fibre-laser specialist to push materials processing agenda at next month's LASER trade show.
A new range of ultrafast fibre lasers, an applications laboratory and a hosted panel session will keep materials processing at the heart of Fianium's agenda for the LASER 2009 tradeshow in Munich, Germany, next month.
The UK-headquartered manufacturer will demonstrate its FP1060-HE range of high-energy ultrafast fibre lasers, which are designed for diverse materials processing applications, such as high-precision micromachining. The industrial-grade lasers are capable of pulse energies of up to 10 µJ with pulsewidths of less than 20 ps, "allowing the processing of challenging polymers, glasses, organic tissue and reflective metals".
In addition, Fianium will promote its new materials processing applications laboratory, set up in collaboration with Summit Photonics and based in Oregon, US. Fianium says that the lab enables it "to work closely with OEMs to test samples and prove the processing results attainable with its range of picosecond fibre lasers".
On Tuesday 16 June, Fianium will also host a discussion on ultrafast fibre lasers for materials processing, one of a series of application panels on novel developments in solid-state laser technology. Fianium's session starts at 3.40 p.m. at stand B2.403.
