News of appointments at LINOS, TRUMPF, CrystalQ and Sarnoff.

• Markus Ehbrecht has been named managing director for sales/marketing and development by LINOS Photonics, and will coordinate all of the company's activities in these areas throughout Germany. He takes over assignments from Volker Brockmeyer, who continues to be responsible for strategic company development, supply net operations and sales subsidiaries.

• Larry Johnson has been named a district sales representative for TRUMPF, responsible for sales activity on the US west coast and specifically in Southern California and Nevada. Johnson was most recently a supervisor in the sheet metal department at the company's North American headquarters in Connecticut. In his new position, he will report directly to Al Bohlen, Operations Manager of TRUMPF's West Coast Technology Center.

CrystalQ Group, a developer of sapphire substrates for the LED industry based in The Netherlands, has named Peter van Strijp, former executive vice president of Philips Lighting and CEO of its solid-state lighting business, as chairman of its supervisory board. Peter Stormberg, former chief technology officer of Philips Lighting, has also joined the board.

• Arnold Kravitz has joined Sarnoff Corporation as director of imaging products and services, and will be responsible for product development, deployment and support of Sarnoff's imaging product lines. Sarnoff, US, develops vision, video and semiconductor technology along with lasers, imaging and sensing devices.
