Single Photon Counting Modules

LASER COMPONENTS manufacturers single photon counting modules which offer a unique combination of high quantum efficiency, wide dynamic range and ease of use.

The heart of the device is our ultra-low noise VloK silicon avalanche photodiode.  This is paired with specially developed quenching and signal processing electronics, creating an all-in-one device.

Incoming photons generate corresponding electrical pulses which output via TTL, making data acquisition straightforward.  The gating function allows the module to be disabled between measurement to prevent overload.  Additionally, we can supply both free space and FC connector versions.

Typical applications are single molecule analysis, confocal microscopy, fluorescence imaging and LiDAR.  More recently, photon counting modules are playing an important role in quantum research.
