Hamamatsu introduce a new range of MPPC® Silicon Photomultipliers with Enhanced Near-Infrared Sensitivity | |
30 Aug 2017 Hamamatsu Photonics introduce their new range of Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs); the S13720 series. Available in ceramic and surface mount package, these MPPCs have a new structure to significantly enhance sensitivity in the NIR region, making them ideal for industrial LIDAR applications. They feature higher photon detection efficiency (PDE), increased from around 2% to approx. 7% at 905 nm. This higher sensitivity enables longer range distance measurements or a better quality signal (SNR). In addition, they deliver a wide operating temperature and storage temperature range (-40 to +85 deg.C and -40 to +105 deg.C respectively) making these devices ideally suited to many industrial applications. The S13720 series has a photosensitive area of 1.3 x 1.3 mm, a 25 μm pixel pitch and a fill factor of 47%. Other features include a high gain of 1.1x106, reduced crosstalk where crosstalk occurrences have been reduced to just 6%, while after pulsing affects are minimal. The typical dark count value is 500 kcps. The S13720 series is optimised for a variety of distance measurement applications, utilising light sources emitting in the near-infrared region. Example applications include LIDAR, distance measurement, flow cytometry, photon counting, high-energy particle detection and medical imaging. For easy evaluation of the SiPMS, we also offer a starter kit and evaluation module. For further information contact us on email: europe@hamamatsu.de or visit our website: www.hamamatsu.com |
