Faster analysis of optomechanical system performance with distributed computing in FRED Optimum

12 Jan 2016

Analysis of optomechanical systems by raytracing is an essential part of the modern optical engineering paradigm. FRED Optical Engineering Software has been an industry standard for more than a decade, offering a virtual laboratory for integrating optical designs with mechanical designs in order to evaluate system level performance.

With the ever increasing capability of solid modeling tools to represent hardware, optomechanical models being generated for system level optical analysis are becoming increasingly detailed and complex. Increased complexity generally translates to increased computation time for raytrace analysis.

The latest release of FRED Optical Engineering Software includes a new capability for splitting a raytrace analysis among an arbitrary number of networked Windows computers, allowing FRED to perform system analyses faster than ever. With no restrictions on the number of nodes that can be used for a calculation, the reduction in time required for analysis scales with the quality and number of nodes available.

Best of all, this new capability is standard in the Optimum version of FRED Optical Engineering Software. Added performance at no added cost. Learn more about the FRED Optical Engineering Software and its capabilities at www.photonengr.com.
