Laser Castle G2 – Laser safety cabins

08 Oct 2015

The second generation laser safety cabins from Lasermet

Lasermet are renowned as world leaders in the field of laser safety and have been designing and manufacturing certified laser safety equipment and systems since 1987.  With manufacturing facilities on two sites in the UK, and with offices in the UK and USA, and with a worldwide distribution network, Lasermet are well positioned to support all users of lasers regarding safety.

Designed and manufactured by Lasermet in the UK, the Laser Castle G2 is the second generation of modular, rapid-build, laser safety cabins certified to international laser safety standards.

The Laser Castle is also an ideal laser safety enclosure for system integrators to incorporate as part of their laser system solution.  Designed for robotic laser welding machines, the certified cabin is a modular, passive laser safety enclosure, which has the option to be upgraded to the active system - Laser Jailer.  It is provided with either Active Filter Windows (Glaser Jailer) or with CCTV and monitors, internal lighting, interlock control, LED signs and a fume extraction system.  There is a choice of either, manual or auto-doors, – in fact everything you need in one complete package.

The G2 concept includes the New Handy Laser Welder – the latest handheld laser welding system – designed to be used inside the Laser Welding Cell.  Precision welding can be carried quickly and effectively with the Handy Laser Welder while the operator remains protected and any personnel outside the cell are also protected against stray laser radiation.

The patented “Laser Jailer” Active Laser Guarding Technology is failsafe and is incorporated into the Personal Protective Equipment – the Active Laser Faceguard (ALF), Active Gloves and Active Jacket.  The welding operative carries out the welding operation while wearing the complete active protective equipment securely within the cabin.  The PPE is wirelessly connected to the Interlock Controller, which isolates the laser safety input in less than 50ms in the event of an inadvertent laser strike. This means that if any of the operator’s active clothing is struck, the laser is virtually immediately switched off.

Lasermet designs and manufactures laser safety equipment and systems such as laser safety interlocks, active and passive laser safety enclosures, laser blocking screens, curtains and blinds, laser beam shutters, laser safety calculation software, laser power meters, and a range of high quality LED warning signs. The company also provides laser safety eyewear and filter windows.

Lasermet has been closely involved in developing the laser safety standard EN60825-1 and is UKAS accredited for laser product testing and certification.  Training, consultancy, audits and Laser Protection Adviser services are also provided.
