Focused laser technology at Fakuma: for precise identification, safe traceability or decorative design of plastic components

30 Jul 2014

For safe traceability, to prevent counterfeiting or to individualize consumer goods: There are many reasons for marking plastic parts and products. How future-oriented laser marking technology increases the efficiency of production lines, provides innovative designs, improves product safety and simplifies traceability, will be showcased at Fakuma by FOBA, a leading manufacturer of laser marking workstations for industrial parts marking.

From panels and switches in automotive interiors through tubes and single-use syringes in the medical field to valves and pumps in mechanical engineering – many industrial parts have to be marked permanently and reliably: with machine readable traceability codes, serial numbers, logos, alphanumeric characters or personalized patterns and letterings or day/night design symbols.

Permanent, excellently readable, abrasion-resistant or decorative – that is what marks should be. Because of the high quality marking results and the versatility of applications laser marking has become the preferred solution for marking plastics, particularly in automotive, medical and mechanical engineering. But these are not the only reasons why laser marking is the favorite identification process for plastic devices. Latest vision-based process solutions are capable of much more: With integrated vision alignment system IMP (Intelligent Mark Positioning) they are ready to take production lines to improved output, high process reliability and enhanced quality assurance. The features of code reading and Optical Character Verification (OCV) provide safe traceability and amended product safety.

Fakuma visitors experience live-demos for efficient part marking like code reading and OCV with the M-Series laser marking workstations at FOBA’s booth. Trends and future possibilities for decorative laser marking will be discussed during the lecture of FOBA’s laser expert Jörg Freund at Fakuma Forum (Foyer Ost, booth FO-01, October 17, 2014): from well-known applications to surprisingly new discoveries for innovative product design, e.g. in automotive industries.

FOBA at Fakuma: October 14-18, 2014
Messe Friedrichshafen, hall A2, booth #A2-2112
