22 May 2013 The use of Lasers delivering high intensity pulses has known an unprecedented evolution thanks to the conjunction of the possibility of the Chirped Pulse Amplification technique and the availability of spectrally broadband laser media. In these laser systems, geometrical aberrations and surface quality from optical elements, clippings on the mirror, thermal effects, alter the beam focusability. It is therefore quite difficult to obtain an aberration-free laser beam.
MONOMORPH, the solution by CILAS
CILAS offers a unique solution in order to correct the distortions in such laser system: a Monomorph Deformable Mirror (DM) in the path of the beam.
Indeed, this product shows:
- high optical quality in the 10 nm rms wavefront range
- very low dependence to temperature and environment that make it suitable for a use under vacuum conditions
- high accuracy when correcting large amplitude Zernike polynomials, even for spherical aberration
- bandpass over several tens of Hz
Moreover, while standard deformable mirrors show a usual “print-through effect”, due to discontinuities at the back of the optical plate, CILAS Monomorph mirrors reduce this characteristic thanks to a unique technology based on piezoelectric plates.
Standard Monomorph Mirrors are available for diameters 30mm up to 85mm; and are supplied with their Electronic Driver. Larger diameters up to 200mm, as well as custom-made electrode patterns are available upon request, to meet specific wavefront corrections.
