02 Apr 2013 Often in high power applications, splices are applied instead of connectors because of reliability issues.
Since many years, for high power applications Diamond provides the E-2000™ PS and F-3000™ PS connector systems using the Power Solution optical interface, also known as Diamond’s expanded beam contact technology.
For limited space application or for replacing a splice Diamond also proposes the PS technology on its smallest connector, the Diamond Micro Interface (DMI) system (Fig. 1).
The DMI connector system is the ideal solution for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) applications (Fig. 1) and can also function as a high quality interface between active and passive components with high optical transmission power requirements.
DMI PS connectors are based on the expanded beam technology (Fig. 2) and are designed to operate with single mode fibers in PC or APC 4° ultra-polished ferrules.
DMI PS FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- Minimum space requirement (footprint of 4.5 x 21 mm)
- Tested with 10 Watt optical power for 1 hour
- Consistent high performance solution
- DIAMOND Active Core Alignment (ACA) for superior IL values
- Easy installation by use of standard clip-on system and assembly tool
