18 Feb 2013 The Cool Eye™ Thermal Infrared Imager provides real-time, low resolution imaging in a small form-factor for a variety of commercial, security, and medical applications.
Manufactured by Excelitas, the Cool Eye Thermopile Array family is designed for applications that need low resolution 3-D thermal images capable of resolving people or small animals without the need for expensive, high-resolution infrared imaging cameras. Cool Eye uses Excelitas' innovative 16-element thermopile array, with increased sensitivity compared to older models. This provides significant improvements in temperature resolution, which leads to enhanced energy conservation in applications including presence detection, energy conservation, energy efficient appliances and indoor home and office climate control applications including HVAC.
Cool Eye features two line arrays and one spatial array in module design on a pcb with a connector. The arrays include lenses, E2PROM and a microcontroller with an integrated 10 bit analog to digital converter to enable digital communication. Cool Eye is flexible and easier to integrate into an overall system due to microcontroller integration.
