23 Mar 2009 A new range of broadband IR LEDs is now distributed by Scitec Instruments. Typical emission bandwidth of these IR LEDs is 0.5 mm with power levels from 10s to 100s of microwatts depending on duty cycle and other operating parameters. These new devices have a 'screw package' that allows easy heat sinking and higher drive power and higher optical power output than previous parts. LEDs are available with output wavelengths of 1.9 µm to 5.4 µm.
LEDs are fabricated from III-V heterostructures grown onto InAs substrates. Optical immersion of the lens with flip-chip devices enables three to five fold increase of output power over earlier parts. |
