29 Aug 2008 A 1 W thin film infra red source suitable for high speed pulsing. The IR-50 Series of infrared emitters from Scitec Instruments uses a very low thermal mass diamond-like carbon thin film element. Due to its low thermal mass, the infrared source can be pulsed at frequencies of up to 100 Hz with a good modulation depth, or contrast between the on and off states. It is suitable for use with quantum detectors such as photoconductive PbS and PbSe, which would otherwise require a chopper to avoid excess low frequency (1/f) noise. |
