23 May 2008 The ERM100 is ideal for alignment applications of polarization maintaining (PM) fibers. Applications include patch cord manufacturing, pigtailing, connectorization, fusion splicing, and coil production as well as quality assurance for fiber gyros. It determines the output Polarization Extinction Ratio (PER) and the orientation of the transmission axis in the PM fiber with respect to a key on the fiber connector. This benchtop device uses a rotating polarizer and is very fast. It operates in the wavelength range of 800-1700nm with a max. ER of 40dB.
