Compact InGaAs Video Camera for SWIR Imaging

17 Jul 2007

SUI (Sensors Unlimited, Inc.), part of Goodrich Corporation, global suppliers of shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging systems based on indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) technology, announces a new, low-cost SWIR video camera, the SU320KTSX-1.7RT.

The low-power (less than 2W at 20 degrees C) all-solid-state imager features a 320 x 256 pixel format on a 25-micron pixel pitch, offering high sensitivity and wide dynamic range in the SWIR wavelength, from 0.9 microns to 1.7 microns. The InGaAs SWIR KTSX delivers clear video at every lighting level from partial starlight to direct sunlight due to the on-board automatic gain control, image enhancements, and built-in non-uniformity corrections. SUI’s lightweight and compact OEM module is less than 4 in³, making it ideal for easy integration into surveillance, aerial, or robotic systems. The SWIR video camera is also available in an enclosed module (less than 9.5 in³). Both camera versions operate at room temperature and offer simultaneous 12-bit Camera Link® digital output for high quality image processing or EIA-170 compatible analog video. SUI’s new night/day SWIR imagers are suitable for integration into many low-light-level OEM applications such as rifle sights, field goggles, handheld systems, unmanned ground and air vehicles, and covert surveillance systems with passive 24/7 operation. Other tasks for the new SU320KTSX camera include emission microscopy, imaging spectroscopy, and astronomy. The company will be premiering the affordable SU320KTSX camera at SPIE’s DSS (Defense and Security Symposium) April 10 -12, 2007 in Orlando, FL. Please stop by Booth #801 for a live demonstration. Goodrich’s SUI team (Sensors Unlimited Inc), based in Princeton, NJ, has pioneered the design and production of SWIR cameras and systems utilizing advanced Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) imaging technology for industrial, commercial, military, agricultural, and scientific markets.
