07 Jun 2007 With a power output of 80W – up to four times the brightness of a typical 10mm bar – and measuring only 3.6mm in width, the bar is designed to enhance the performance of direct diode and fiber delivery systems. The VHB bar has a power output of 80W – up to four times the brightness of a typical 10mm bar – and measures only 3.6mm in width. With a bar smile of less than 1um – a record for a hard-soldered device – the product is designed for efficient beam shaping and will enhance the performance of direct diode and fiber delivery systems, particularly those supporting industrial metal processing applications such as coating, cladding and welding.
“Bookham is leading the market in terms of brightness and power,” said Berthold Schmidt, director of product marketing for High Power Lasers at Bookham. “Designed for efficient beam shaping, and with a wall-plug efficiency of more than 60%, our high power laser diode portfolio enables more reliable, smaller, less expensive and more flexible designs for direct diode systems and fiber lasers.”
