24 May 2007 KOHERAS introduces a new addition to the broadband white light SuperK™ product family, the "SuperK™ Compact" As with the other established SuperK™ broadband sources developed by KOHERAS, the Compact is designed as a maintenance-free turnkey system covering the visible to near IR spectrum with exceptionally good beam characteristics.
The SuperK™ Compact spectrally covers from 500 nm up to 1750 nm and beyond with an average output power of 100 mW and a minimum power density of –20 dBm/nm. The pulsed system has a repetition rate of 25 kHz and pulse lengths of 1 – 2 ns. The new generation SuperK™ Compact supersedes the SuperK™ Red and now comes in an even more compact mechanical design, with further improvements in stability. Connectorised output allows that user flexibility to connect any component, fibre or optical system under test.
Applications:
Offering a wider wavelengths spectrum and high optical power density, the SuperK™ Compact provides a technologically superior alternative to other light sources allowing new test and measurement approaches in applications such as photonic crystals and –structures, chromatic dispersion characterisation in fibres and telecom components that operate in CWDM and DWDM wavelength ranges. The SuperK™ Compact also sees applications in fields as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Bio-analysis, and White light Interferometry, where the Compact’s high brightness and spatial coherence is an asset .
