18 Apr 2007 Moritex (www.moritex.com) has announced further additions to its range of high performance plastic optical fibres from Toray Industries for applications including data communications, illumination, electronic displays and optical sensing.
The plastic optical fibres use a step index structure (N.A 0.54) with a core of high purity polymethyl methacrylate and cladding of a special fluorinated polymer to provide a lightweight product with spectral attenuation as low as 0.15 dB/ m @ 650 nm. Advantageously the fibres also offer no interference to electrical signals. The fibres are available in a range of spool sizes with different core diameters (0.125 mm to 3.0 mm) and can be delivered with or without cladding.
Offering high flexibility, with bend radii as small as 9mm, the plastic optic fibres enhance applications versatility. The fibre is also extremely easy to use and terminate increasing productivity and decreasing waste.
As a major stockholder of Toray plastic optical fibre, Moritex are able to offer competitive pricing and deliveries on small to OEM scale requirements.
