iPulse and iBeam with higher power at 375 nm

R&D engineers in flow cytometry, microscopy and genomics will appreciate a powerful diode laser in the UV: TOPTICA’s iPulse and iBeam now provide up to 18 mW at 375 nm.

Maintaining the high power stability (< 0.5%) and the diffraction limited beam quality of the successful industrial laser series iBeam/iPulse, the higher output power extends opportunities compared to previous models in several bio-med fields. In fluorescence detection, signal-to-noise ratio is often limited by the available excitation power. Gas lasers in the near UV provided sufficient power, but suffered from unfavorable energy consumption and heat dissipation. The high power diode based solutions iBeam and iPulse therefore present a welcome alternative at 375 nm. As UV diode technology matures, further advantages are close at hand: Industrial customers appreciate the lifetime extension of 50 % whilst system integrators welcome the good predictability of the diode life cycle. A diode exchange can now be planned in advance, reducing system down-time to less than 30 minutes. In addition, the pulse performance improved significantly, reducing former drooping tendencies at certain pulse cycles by 66 %. All previous benefits stay the same, such as full computer control (RS 232), circular beam shape and a very compact footprint (156 x 56 x 66 mm3). Both iBeam and iPulse can be equipped with TOPTICA's ultra stable fiber-coupler FiberDock. Single-mode fiber-coupling is thus a matter of minutes instead of hours. At 375 nm, the output power level at the fiber end exceeds 11 mW (efficiency > 65 %). Due to the new thermo-stable, patented design, ambient temperature drifts have nearly no impact on the efficiency anymore. Standard wavelengths for the iBeam and iPulse series are 375, 405, 445, 473, 640, 660 and 675 nm. Other wavelengths can be ordered upon request.
