Electrox FleXYZ Its Marking Muscles with Faster and More Accurate Workstation

Date Announced: 14 Apr 2011

Laser workstation said to provide repeatable, accurate marking at a speed 25% faster than its predecessor.

Electrox has enhanced its popular FleXYZ workstation to allow businesses to mark large, heavy components with greater speed and accuracy.

The newly upgraded FleXYZ has been specifically designed in response to customer requests and provides market leading levels of repeatability and accuracy at speeds of around 25% faster than those of its predecessor.

The FleXYZ is a highly versatile, free-standing workstation that provides maximum working space in an extremely compact footprint – just 1.25m x 1.35m – yet it can cater for components of up to 600mm (l) x 600mm (w) x 200mm (h) weighing up to 160kg.

The FleXYZ is compatible with all Electrox laser marking systems from the low-cost Raptor to the high-specification Scorpion Rapide. It provides motorised solutions and, thanks to fully programmable X, Y and Z axes using Electrox’s Scriba software, ensures the highest precision on a wide range of components.

When it comes to marking, the FleXYZ is equally suited for use on large individual items or multiple smaller components in batches, thus ensuring maximum productivity.

There are two lenses to choose from; 163mm and 254mm which provide marking fields of 140mm diameter and 218mm diameter respectively. The control system features a tiling function which divides a larger design into smaller tiles which fit within the overall marking area of the laser lens, thus allowing larger components to be marked with a large design for advanced identification or traceability.

It features a slide-up front door and two side access doors to allow easy loading, as well as a conveniently located easy-to-use control panel. And it is built from welded steel to ensure maximum durability in busy manufacturing environments.

The FleXYZ can be further enhanced with a range of optional extras, including a foot switch, fume extraction system, mounting arm for PC, auto-door, camera system and rotary axis. It can also be fitted with either a metric or imperial tool plate, making it suitable for global markets.

Paul Mincher, General Manager of Electrox, said: “In these tough economic times, companies have reported to us that they need to become more productive and cost efficient, so we’ve directly responded to these needs with the launch of the newly upgraded FleXYZ workstation.

“Not only does it offer market leading levels of accuracy, but it can mark large components at speeds of up to 25 per cent faster than that of its predecessor, making it one of the fastest available laser solutions for its size.”

Electrox was founded 30 years ago and is part of the world-renowned 600 Group PLC. The company manufactures a wide variety of fully-integrated laser marking solutions, which use an intense beam of light to permanently engrave or mark a material’s surface. Its systems are fast, extremely easy to use and very cost effective, because there are no components to wear or run out.

Electrox lasers offer a wide range of applications including ablation and coating removal such as for automotive displays, coding for traceability and identification, authentication and labelling and for decorative design and personalisation.
