Linda Smith of CERES Joins Luminate Advisory Board

Date Announced: 11 Sep 2019

Applications for latest cohort of startups are due September 23.

Newton, Massachusetts – September 11, 2019 CERES Technology Advisors, Inc. is pleased to announce Linda Smith is joining the advisory board of Luminate.

Luminate is the only international startup accelerator focused solely on next-generation optics, photonics and imaging. It is bringing visionary entrepreneurs from around the globe together with pioneers in the field and qualified investors to speed innovation and time to market.

Each cohort receives personal mentorship from the world-class advisory board comprised of experienced entrepreneurs and CEO's at top optics and photonics companies, the who’s who of the industry. As a personal mentor, Linda will work closely with management teams to help further their business goals.

“I am extremely impressed with the startups in Luminate’s first two cohorts and with the program’s management team,” said Linda. “I am looking forward to mentoring the startups, working with the board to further advance optics, photonics and imaging innovation and exploring effective models for funding and supporting early-stage companies.”

Luminate is currently seeking visionary entrepreneurs who are solving difficult problems in augmented and virtual reality, autonomous vehicles, machine vision, biophotonics and other fields related to photonics. Applications for Luminate’s third cohort are due September 23.

Linda Smith founded CERES, an M & A advisory firm, in 2005 to serve photonics companies underserved by generalist investment banks. She advised on more than 20 acquisitions and financings and is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) specializing in the valuation of privately held businesses with core photonics technology.

Prior to CERES, Linda held senior marketing and sales management positions at market leaders, Thermo Fisher Scientific and QIOPTIQ and venture capital financed companies who commercialized CMOS and MEMS integrated optics technologies. She is a Fellow of SPIE, the International Society of Optics and Photonics, a member of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Winning Women™ and holds B.S. in Optics from University of Rochester and M.B.A. from Babson College.
