Ultra-Low Noise Thermopiles

With almost 40 years of experience Dexter Research provide the largest selection of highly customisable thermopile solutions based on high output Bismuth-Antimony thin film and Silicon based thermopile detectors, capable of providing D* values of 3x108 √Hz/W and a voltage noise of only 12.8nV/√Hz for the 2mm x 2mm active area “2M” thin film thermopile.

Thermopile detectors are capable of detecting AC and DC signals, have a linear spectral response from the UV to far infrared, do not require a JFET or Op Amp, as they output a voltage that can be directly measured (although pre-amplification may be desired), and are not susceptible to microphonic noise. Thermopiles are only susceptible to Johnson noise, having an equivalent noise of a resistor of the same resistance!

Thermopiles are available in single element, dual element, quads and arrays with variable thermistor, window, and filter options and the ability to increase responsivity, output voltage, and time constant via different backfill gas options, thus allowing you to find a detector perfect for your application.
