Photonex 2013 - October 17th sees a day-long conference on Optical Metrology – the latest developments in instrumentation for industry & research

Date Announced: 25 Sep 2013

Xmark Media the organisers of Photonex 2013, the UK’s showcase photonics conference & exhibition announce the programme and speakers for the meeting on Optical Metrology. This FREE-to-attend conference will be held on Thursday 17th October. This will be held at the visitor-friendly Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Optical techniques are increasingly being used to perform high accuracy measurements in aerospace, automotive and precision manufacturing. One factor is the industry need for higher quality and increased monitoring of production processes. Another is technological developments in optical sources, detectors, computing power and electronics. This meeting will bring together leaders in industry, research institutes and universities to discuss the latest technology developments and new applications in optical metrology.

The programme has been put together by internationally-renowned surface measurement specialists, Professor Richard Leach of the National Physical Laboratory and Dr Roger Groves from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Eight speakers have agreed to present their latest research results to show attendees some of the exciting possibilities available today. The line-up includes leading optical metrologist, Professor Wolfgang Osten from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. Professor Osten is head of the Institute for Optical Technology. He will talk about the transition of optical metrology from the laboratory bench to the fabrication facility.

Conference organisers, Enlighten Meetings in partnership with Xmark Media, are very excited by the level of new science being presented at Photonex 2013.

Speaking about the meeting, Brenda Hargreaves said, “As well as the high level of the talks themselves, we aim to provide a complementary environment for networking for delegates and speakers alike. I am looking forward to an exciting day in Coventry in October.”

Photonex, now in its 22nd year organised by Xmark Media is reporting on increased reservations for space for this year’s exhibition with companies coming from across the globe to share their latest technology from components to complete turnkey solutions applying photonics. Co-located with Photonex is Vacuum Expo, an event dedicated to vacuum technologies. There is significant technology overlap such as when photonics is applied for surface analysis or when fibre optics are used for securing access to the vacuum environment.

Potential visitors are encouraged to visit Photonex website (www.photonex.org) and to register to visit today.
