Previously announced deal sees Newport diversify its product offering.
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Newport Corporation (Nasdaq:NEWP - News) today announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2011, the company will close its previously announced acquisition of Ophir Optronics Ltd. ("Ophir"), a global leader in precision infrared optics, photonics instrumentation and three-dimensional non-contact measurement equipment. President and Chief Executive Officer Robert J. Phillippy and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Charles F. Cargile will host an investor conference call at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time (1:00 p.m. Pacific time) to discuss the terms of the closing and plans for Ophir's integration with Newport.
