The NRL-built WISPR coronagraph instrument, housed inside the Parker Solar Probe ahead of its launch last weekend. Based around two CMOS sensors and featuring a twin-telescope design, the instrument is one of four on board the probe, but the only one that will be capturing images of the Sun's corona and associated phenomena. Following a fly-by of Venus around six weeks after launch, WISPR will be activated ahead of an initial encounter with the Sun in early November.
