| Lucilla Sioli, the European Commission's new director for digital industry, addressed the Photonics21 annual meeting for the first time in Brussels last week. Sioli said that the photonics public-private partnership (PPP) had been "one of the best and most efficient" funded via Horizon 2020, but added that it is not yet decided whether this particular support mechanism will be retained for FP9.
