Largely through strategic acquisitions, Kramer has overseen a decade of near-continuous growth at the helm of II-VI. In that time annual sales have more than tripled as the company morphed from one largely focused on materials to become more dominated by optics and photonics technology. Net earnings growth has been less impressive, but the outgoing CEO believes that II-VI has an exciting future, reckoning that demand for VCSELs in sensing applications is poised to present a huge opportunity.
