| Spectra-Physics' "Kaleidoscope" was one of a raft of new products launched by Newport's iconic laser brand at the SPIE Photonics West exhibition in San Francisco last week. Based around a hollow fiber compressor and pumped with a Spitfire Ace or Solstice Ace laser, it generates few-cycle pulses (<7 fs at FWHM) with up to 0.6 mJ output pulse energy. The new systems are aimed at researchers working on high harmonic and terahertz generation applications, as well as multidimensional spectroscopy and other advanced ultrafast science.
