Copper welding
Welding copper works much better with a green laser than with an infrared source, and Trumpf's new TruDisk 421 source delivers an average 400W. This image shows good uniformity of the welding depth, making it possible to weld thin materials on a tricky substrate like ceramic. Shown in the photo are two copper layers of differing thicknesses (0.2 and 0.3 mm) welded with no apparent damage to the ceramic material lying below. Photo: Trumpf.
