Flexible future?
While III-V semiconductor-based photovoltaics has been focused until now on applications in space and a relatively small number of terrestrial deployments of concentrated PV (CPV) systems, this image circulated by the new "virtual lab" collaboration suggests the potential for highly efficient flexible PV materials that could be used in consumer applications. As with CPV, the big question will be whether or not the complex material systems can be manufactured cheaply enough for the mass market. Image: Fraunhofer ISE/CEA Tech.
