| Lockheed Martin is one of the defense contractors working on laser weapons. This shows the results after its 30kW "ATHENA" laser weapon system was fired at a truck target from a distance of one mile. The experiment demonstrates the military effectiveness of lasers against enemy ground vehicles, but the CNAS report by Jason Ellis says that the DOD must adopt a more cohesive strategy if the technology is to ultimately deliver useful military capability.
