| Kepler's light detector, a focal plane array comprising 42 individual CCD sensors, was produced by UK-based e2v technologies. Although the space telescope has only had its camera trained on a tiny part of the night sky, it has detected more than 4000 potential exoplanets, of which just over 1000 have been confirmed by NASA scientists.
