This image shows a wafer full of high-efficiency III-V solar cells, manufactured using MBE deposition by the US firm Solar Junction, which holds the world record for cell conversion efficiency at just over 44%. The UCL-Bristol team is aiming to make cells with good efficiencies but which can be manufactured much more cheaply by employing silicon wafers. Credit: Solar Junction.
