Five-star guide
The Gemini laser guide star constellation, generated when a 50 W laser hits a layer of sodium atoms about 90 km above the surface of the Easth, is not visible to the naked eye. But the image was captured here using a 500mm f/5.6 Celestron telescope with a Canon Rebel XT camera at an ISO setting of 1600 and a 30 s exposure time. Image Credit: Gemini Observatory/AURA
