Featuring counter-drone abilities, EO/IR camera, 3D radar, and RF detection sensors.
Teledyne Flir Defense (Flir) has launched its new Lightweight Vehicle Surveillance System with air domain awareness and advanced counter-unmanned aerial system capabilities. The “LVSS ADA C-UAS” vehicle is an addition to Flir’s field-proven LVSS platform that features reliable, rapidly deployable technology to detect and mitigate the growing threat of small drones.
The system employ a combination of 3D radar, EO/IR camera, and RF detection and mitigation sensors to provide operators with early warning alerts. Threats are detected and displayed simultaneously, showing position and elevation [of drones] for all radar tracks.
The LVSS ADA C-UAS also can detect drone swarms by allowing operators to monitor up to 500 radar targets simultaneously. A multi-spectral imager captures key UAS elements that help identify high-risk targets for a pinpointed response.
“Protecting vast borders, shorelines, and forward-operating bases is a job that’s been made even more difficult with the challenges posed by drones,” said Dr. JihFen Lei, executive vice president and general manager of TFD.
“The LVSS C-UAS combines sophisticated counter-drone technologies and counter-measures to make it the most effective mobile surveillance system available to combat these dangers,” Lei added.

Flir launches Neutrino SX12 MWIR cameraFlir has also announced the launch of the Neutrino SX12 ISR1200 MWIR camera, the first model in the new Neutrino Ground ISR series with integrated CZ optics.
The HD MWIR system combines a camera module and 120mm to 1,200mm CZ optics with industry-adopted imaging electronics from InVeo Designs LLC to provide an ISR solution with low-switching-cost, specified for defense and industrial integrators.
The camera is based on Flir’s focal plane array (FPA) technology, near diffraction-limited optics, and a long-life linear Stirling cooler with 25,000 hour MTTF (mean time to failure). It offers 1280x1024 resolution with 12µm pixel size.
It also features dual-parallel outputs using a 60Hz Camera Link base with 1080P30 HD-SDI or 720P60 HD-SDI, ideal for tracking, turbulence mitigation, and artificial intelligence.
