Laser “MPNG welding” can reduce energy costs by up to 80 percent, says the IWS.
Researchers at the Fraunhofer IWS used an indoor crane segment made of S355J2 structural steel (4 by 0.75 by 0.5 meters) to demonstrate that the laser MPNG welding process they had developed reduces energy costs by up to 80 percent and filler material consumption by up to 85 percent compared to conventional welding processes. © Fraunhofer IWS/René Jungnickel
