| The latest two stages of JWST mirror alignment saw NASA first align the 18 individual images captured by each primary mirror segment into the now-familiar hexagonal shape, and then combine each image at a single point on the NIRCam instrument's sensor. Coarse phasing and fine-tuning stages will now follow, before JWST begins capturing scientific images in the summer. Images: NASA. |
