Pixium Vision's retinal implant - a light sensor that is placed at the back of a patient's eye - has shown itself capable of restoring a level of vision to people whose sight has been impacted by dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). According to US charity BrightFocus, as many as 11 million people in the US have some form of AMD. This number is expected to double to nearly 22 million by 2050, with no current treatment options available. Image: Pixium Vision. |
