100G transceivers: in demand
Since last year's acquisition of Finisar, II-VI has become one of the world's key providers of high-speed optical transceivers for communications networks. The novel coronavirus pandemic - and associated pressure on bandwidth - appears to have accelerated the build-out of new networks, with II-VI reporting a surge in demand for a number of key components. The company says that 100G devices remain the mainstay of the market right now, representing almost 70% of a sector thought to be worth around $3 billion in total each year. Photo: II-VI.
