WFIRST: widening the field of view in space
Although the diameter of WFIRST's primary mirror will be less than half that of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), its optics will yield a far wider field of view, meaning that entire galaxies can be mapped in detail far more quickly than with either JWST or Hubble. This image shows the Andromeda galaxy with the Moon for a size reference. Image: NASA.
