Design Development

Bringing a new design from the initial exploratory phase of proof of concept to completion requires multiple steps with thorough analysis at each stage, from the initial feasibility exploration (proof of concept) and research of technical requirements through cost analysis and mechanical design to rapid prototyping and, finally, the development of the optical product. DFM Input

Our expert engineering team has many years of manufacturing experience and will help our customers optimize their optical system with in-depth DFM input (Design for Manufacturing). Process includes material selection and geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis (GD&T).

Metrology Instruments and Services

We understand that the rigorous testing needed for precise optical functions is beyond the capability of all but the most specialized firms, and we provide both standard and custom metrology services to our clients. Our state of the art equipment allows us to perform the most precise measurements and fine-tuning, and our experienced engineers are able to provide any measurement analytics that may be needed.

State-of-the-Art Metrology:

Shanghai Optics invests significantly in its manufacturing facility and metrology equipment in order to meet the quality demands of our customer’s applications. Some of the in-house inspection equipment that we use are:

• Zygo Verifire Interferometer (measures surface accuracy of plano- or spherical surfaces)
• TriOptics MTF Station (full optical system characterization & performance specs)
• Shimadzu Spectrometer (measures transmission and reflection date; spectrum ranges from UV-250nm to Far IR-50um)
• TriOptics OptiCentric 100 Dual – for testing, alignment and assembly of complex and multi-lens objectives.

Troubleshooting and Ongoing Support

Our capabilities include not only design services and testing/measurement, but also troubleshooting existing optical systems and providing continuous support for our products throughout their time of use. Scope of Services
