| Back in 1998, when the original Harnessing Light report was published, the photovoltaics industry barely existed. First Solar, now one of the world's leading solar panel producers, was not even founded until the following year. In 2010, solar panels capable of producing upwards of 15GW power will be delivered around the world, with First expecting to produce 2GW worth of panels in 2011 at just its own factories.
