Certified Optical Network Associate (CONA) Training Workshop

FiberGuide
21-25 July 2025
McLean, VA, United States

Launch your career in optical communications with specialized optical networking courses from Optical Technology Training (OTT), delivered by FiberGuide. As optical networks grow increasingly complex—driven by AI, cloud computing, video streaming, 5G, and other high-bandwidth applications—the demand for skilled professionals continues to rise. OTT, through its global network of partners, offers industry-recognized certifications in optical communications, including the foundational CONA (Certified Optical Network Associate) and the advanced CONE (Certified Optical Network Engineer).

CONA serves as a fundamental course in optical networking, encompassing network infrastructure and transmission systems based on direct detection technology. Direct detection systems have the capability to provide high capacity, reaching up to 1.6 Terabits per second, within data center environments. Direct detection can also be used in data center interconnects at speeds of 100 or 400 Gigabits per second. Direct detection is employed in a variety of other applications including local area networks, campus backbones, fiber to the antennas, 5G transport, as well as numerous transport and utility networks. In long-haul systems, direct detection systems have the capability to transmit high data rates across thousands of kilometers.

Participants registered for CONA can anticipate acquiring knowledge in optical networking essentials, which encompasses the transmission of light through optical fiber and topics related to fiber infrastructure and available commercial transmission systems. Trainees will gain expertise in designing and planning high-speed optical point-to-point links and networks that are both efficient and cost-effective, meeting the demands of present and future needs. In this course delegates learn what is required for satisfactory system performance of the network they design.
