15th European Short Course on Time-resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy

PicoQuant
06-09 November 2017
Berlin, Germany

The annual short course “Principles and Applications of Time-resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy” is organized by PicoQuant GmbH in cooperation with Joseph R. Lakowicz from the Center of Fluorescence Spectroscopy (CFS) in Baltimore, USA. The course gives an in-depth introduction into the principles of fluorescence spectroscopy as well as its applications to life science. This year’s course will be held from November 6 to 9, 2017 in the capital city of Germany, Berlin.

The course is aimed at professionals who are either using or intend to use fluorescence spectroscopy in their research. The lectures are accompanied by practical training sessions focusing on various instrumentation and software. The lectures will be held by Joseph R. Lakowicz from CFS, Zygmunt “Karol” Gryczynski from the Texas Christian University, Forth Worth, USA, Rainer Erdmann, Managing Director of PicoQuant, and further senior scientists of PicoQuant, who all have extensive experience in time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. The practical sessions will include steady-state and time-resolved measurements as well as data analysis, performed on various instruments provided by Agilent and PicoQuant.

Topics to be covered in this years course:
Basics of fluorescence spectroscopy
Instrumentation and data analysis
Time-domain and frequency-domain measurements
Anisotropy
Solvent effects
Quenching
Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)
Fluorescence sensing
Fluorescence spectroscopy in biophysics and material science
Plasmon-controlled fluorescence
