Kymata more than triples its optical production capacity

17 Jun 2002

The Scottish optical-device manufacturer has extended its production in Scotland by 50000 sq.ft.

Kymata has expanded its planar fabrication, packaging and test facility to increase the production of its existing optical devices and components. The company claims that the move reinforces its commitment to meet the growing demand for next-generation components and integrated devices, and plans to fabricate optical devices that are based on micro-electromechanical systems technology and IBM's silicon oxynitride technology.

"The facility covers the entire production cycle, including full design, fabrication testing and packaging services," said Kymata's operation director, Clive Wilson. "We can now offer quicker product lead times with increased reliability."

The new facility also provides an extra 20000 sq.ft of research, design and development space.
