DigiLens of Sunnyvale, California, in the US, developer of the award-winning switchable Bragg-grating technology, is seeking an established manufacturing partner. The company's DigiWave filter has just won the display component of the year award from Information Display magazine.
DigiLens CEO Jonathan Waldern said: "We have been encouraged by the success of our ongoing work and now feel confident enough to seek out an established manufacturing partner to ramp up our LCD-like manufacturing process to make the millions of optical components that are required by our customers.
The DigiWave filter is a solid-state replacement for mechanical rotating colour wheels in rear projection televisions. It is a compact laminate of red, green and blue layers. As each layer is electrically activated in turn, the light is reflected onto a display chip, creating a high-definition, full-colour image without the noise and bulk of a colour wheel.
