Rockwell sues Spectra-Physics

Rockwell International, US, has sued California-based Spectra-Physics Lasers and its manufacturing arm, Opto Power, for alleged infringement of a patent for film manufacture.

The suit claims that laser diodes made by Opto Power incorporate wafers made by a process allegedly infringing Rockwell's patent.

Entitled "Epitaxial composite and method of making," the patent in question relates to an organometallic process used to produce semiconductor films on a single crystal substrate.

Spectra-Physics is yet to comment on the development.
