Alcatel groups land and undersea divisions

The terrestrial and submarine networking and optoelectronics activities of Alcatel have been grouped together as a new division called Alcatel Optics. Niall Hickey of Alcatel commented that customers increasingly want telecommunications systems that run both undersea and on land.

Hickey says that there will not be any dramatic changes for the 15 000 staff within the two sub-divisions but they will be managed by one president, Christian Reinaudo.
