GE Lighting, Emcore form company for high-brightness LED development

GE Lighting (Cleveland, Ohio) and Emcore Corporation (Somerset, New Jersey) have completed the formation of GELcore LLC, a joint venture which will develop and market white light and colored LEDs. GE Lighting will hold a 51% interest while Emcore will hold a 49% interest in the company which is expected to introduce its first commercial products in the second half of 1999.
