VLT Unit 4 topring, spider installed

The topring for Unit 4 of the Paranal Observatory's Very Large Telescope and the spider which carries the M2 unit on which the 1.1-meter secondary mirror will later be placed have been installed on the telescope known as Yepun. The installation is the last big mechanical piece of the final unit telescope. Cabling and minor installation remain to be done but the last stage of integration is expected in August or September of this year with first light expected in July 2000.
