Bomem, Inc., has been awarded a $4.3 million contract by the U.S. Air Force Development Test Center for the design, fabrication, and testing of a next-generation infrared spectrometer for spatial imaging of defense targets such as aircraft, missiles, and flares. The spectrometer will be installed and field tested aboard F-15 aircraft and is expected to provide a high-resolution spectral signature of heat-producing targets independent of lighting conditions. The device will simultaneously measure emissions across 256 spatial sensing elements to produce a detailed image of the targets.
